During the Biennale Arte 2024, I had the honour of assisting the architectural photographer Hélène Binet in her work of documenting – with her precious view camera – Kapwani Kiwanga’s site-responsive installation Trinket for the Canada Pavilion. I was also in charge of creating the digital images.

The installation creates a continuous space between inside and outside and consists of strands of conterie (glass beads), which were used as currency and an object of exchange from the 16th century, exported to the world from the island of Murano. This work addresses global economic relations and the history of trade, and how they have shaped the world.
